Işık Koşaner

Sebahattin Işık Koşaner (born December 5, 1945 in Devrek ) is a former Turkish general and chief of staff of the Turkish armed forces .

Koşaner graduated from the " Military School for Land Forces " in 1965 and the "Infantry School" the following year. In 1974 he was involved in the occupation of Cyprus as commander of a special unit . Until 1976 he worked in various functions in the army , graduated from the military academy in 1978 and was a staff officer in the general staff. The promotion to brigadier general took place in 1992. This was followed by promotions to major general and lieutenant general. In 2004 he became a four-star general and commander in chief of the Aegean Army .

On April 30, 2008 Koşaner was appointed army chief. He was the 27th Chief of Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces since August 8, 2010 . On July 29, 2011, Koşaner and the entire army command resigned from his post because of differences of opinion with the Erdoğan government . His successor was Necdet Özel .

Koşaner is married to Nurdan Koşaner and has two children with her.
