Monika Übelhör

Monika Übelhör (* 1940 ) is a German sinologist and former professor of sinology at the Philipps University of Marburg .

career

Übelhör studied Sinology in Hamburg. She spent her semester abroad in Japan . From 1988 to 2005 she was a professor at the Philipps University in Marburg. Her main areas of work are education in traditional China, Confucianism since the Song era , questions of local administration, the confrontation in China with Western ideas and one's own cultural heritage since the Jesuit mission , the position of women in traditional China and China on the threshold to the 20th century.
