Monika Neumann (table tennis player)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Monika Neumann (* August 1976 ) is a German table tennis player who took part in two international world championships for Liechtenstein .

Career

Monika Neumann began her table tennis career with the TG Dörnigheim association. From there she moved to TV Bergen-Enkheim, in 1989 to SKG Frankfurt and in 1990 in the first women's league with the Reinickendorfer Füchsen .

Neumann was sponsored by her father, who was a Chinese private trainer for three years and the Hungarians Dr. Istvan Bátorfi as a technical consultant. From the late 1980s she performed internationally for Liechtenstein. In 1990 she won the bronze medal with Simona Savu (Romania) at the European Youth Championships in Hollabrunn. In the individual, she was eliminated in the second round. She was also nominated for the 1991 and 1993 World Championships . However, she did not come close to a medal rank. In 1993 she was the only Liechtenstein participant in the World Cup.

Because of her international assignments for Liechtenstein, Monika Neumann was not allowed to take part in the German National Championships or in national ranking tournaments. The statutes of the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) forbid "players who belong to a foreign national team or who have belonged within the last three years" to participate in these tournaments. She won the North German ranking tournaments and was No. 1 in North Germany. She won 153 first places in national and international youth tournaments.

In 1994 she left the Reinickendorfer Füchse and thus the Bundesliga and joined the low-class TG Dörnigheim. After an interlude in Lower Saxony, she returned to TG Dörnigheim and has been with TSG Oberrad since 2002.
