Monika Specht-Tomann

Monika Specht-Tomann (born February 7, 1950 in Graz ) is an Austrian psychologist , psychotherapist and specialist book author .

Life

Having grown up in Graz, after graduating from high school in 1968, she trained as a physiotherapist there in Vienna. She then studied psychology, psychopathology and philosophy in Vienna, Salzburg and Constance . She trained in various methods such as concentrative movement therapy (Miriam Goldberg), expressive dance , relaxation training, supervision, and clinical hypnosis according to Milton H. Erickson .

Until 1983 she worked in Konstanz at the University of Konstanz in teaching and research and as a freelancer for the family and sex counseling center Pro Familia in Konstanz. She then worked as a freelancer in institutions in the Graz-Seckau diocese, with a focus on various areas of adult education.

Since 1993 she has been working as a freelancer in the areas of hospice work (counseling and support for the seriously ill, initiation and management of cancer groups, individual support and support for relatives), the development of training curricula (basic hospice training; basic and advanced training curricula for human professions; teaching curriculum "social internship"), and supervision of hospice teams. She works as a consultant in training contexts of hospice work, palliative care and pain mentors, as a lecturer at the Karl-Franzens-University Graz, the Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule Graz , the Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule Wien and IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems , as well as a non-fiction book author in the fields of hospice since 1998, Dying and grief counseling and pain therapy.

Monika Specht-Tomann has four children and lives with her family in Graz / Austria.
