Monkey X (formerly just Monkey ) is a programming language whose goal is to standardize programming on many platforms. The programming language itself is based on BASIC , with aspects of object orientation being included.

syntax

The syntax of Monkey X is based on the BASIC syntax, whereby some techniques from the object orientation are available, for example inheritance and polymorphism , it is classified as a programming language with strong typing .

Compiler

The Monkey compiler compiles the Monkey source code into another programming language and thus functions as a preprocessor . The generated code is then further compiled or executed. This enables it to run on different platforms.

history

Monkey X was founded on March 1, 2011 by Blitz Research Ltd. published, which also published Blitz Basic . The Monkeycoder.de portal was launched in Germany. The German BlitzBasic portal also set up a subsection for Monkey X. June 2017 share Blitz Research Ltd. with the fact that the development will be discontinued and the product will be placed under an open source license.
