Monocarboxylic acids
Monocarboxylic acids are chemical compounds that have only one carboxy group (–COOH) in the molecule. Compounds with several carboxy groups are correspondingly referred to as di- or tricarboxylic acids . Monocarboxylic acids with different structures are presented under carboxylic acids . Examples
Monocarboxylic acids can be named according to the IUPAC nomenclature by adding the syllable “acid” to the name of the associated alkane .
