The monolith of Frankenstein (also known as Hinkelstein ) is a possible menhir near Frankenstein in the Kaiserslautern district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
location
The stone is located in the Palatinate Forest , southwest of Frankenstein on the western slope of a mountain.
description
The monolith consists of locally abundant red sandstone . It has a height of 240 cm, a width of 65 cm and a depth of 60 cm. The stone is pillar-shaped and ends in a broken point. He stands wedged between several other stones. Such a construction is completely atypical for menhirs; it is therefore unclear whether it is actually a real menhir or just a freak of nature.
