history

Sea Power , monsoon type in Durban

The series was manufactured in 15 units from 1979 to 1985. The ships are primarily intended for the combined transport of general cargo and containers, as well as heavy cargo, but also bulk cargo.

The first ship and namesake of the series was the Faneos with hull number 241 , which was handed over on November 14, 1979. The Faneos , based in Monrovia , was renamed twice, operated until 1999 and canceled on December 26, 1999 in Alang . Even if several units were initially planned for the Deutsche Seereederei , the Radebeul , which was delivered in 1984 as the penultimate ship of the series, remained the only DSR ship in this series. The conclusion was formed by the Irini , which was completed in March 1985 and which had been laid down as Ruhland .

technology

The ships were propelled by a 8240 kW two-stroke diesel engine of the type K8Z 70/120 E manufactured under MAN license from the manufacturer VEB Dieselmotorenwerk Rostock , which acts directly on a fixed propeller. The machine system is set up for guard-free operation.

The hulls with bulbous bow are joined together in a sectional construction.

The four equally long cargo holds with a volume of 25,600 m³ grain space and 23,550 m³ ball space have intermediate decks and were closed with folding hatch covers divided amidships.

604 containers can be transported. The loading gear consists of four 5/10-ton loading booms , four 35-ton loading booms and a swing-through 125-ton heavy-lift boom .
