The Mont Orohena is the highest point of Tahiti in the archipelago of the Society Islands and at the same time the highest point of all of French Polynesia . It represents the summit of the former volcano that forms the Tahiti Nui peninsula ("Greater Tahiti"), the western part of the twin islands of Tahiti. Mont Orohena reaches a height of 2241 m above sea level. Administratively, the mountain belongs to the municipality of Mahina .
