Monumenta Musicae Byzantinae

The Monumenta Musicae Byzantinae ( MMB ; "Monuments Byzantine Music") are a series of musical monuments from the Byzantine era founded by Carsten Høeg and published since 1935.

Since then, the University of Copenhagen has continuously undertaken research activities in the field of Byzantine chant. The MMB appeared under the auspices of the Union Académique Internationale and was supported by the Carlsberg Foundation . Various sub-series appear next to the main series.

Current editors (July 2017) of the series are Christian Troelsgård (Copenhagen, as director), Gudrun Engberg (Copenhagen), Christian Hannick (Würzburg), Nicolas Bell (Cambridge), Christian Thodberg (Aarhus), Gerda Wolfram (Vienna), Francesco d 'Aiuto (Rome) in collaboration with the Archimandrite of Grottaferrata .

The first volume of the facsimile edition was a choir book (a so-called Sticherarion ) from 1221, the Codex Dalassenos of the Austrian National Library , theol. gr. 181, in Middle Byzantine diastematic notation .

The series is divided into the following sub-series: Série principale (mostly with complete reproductions from various codices), Série Subsidia , Série Transcripta , Série Lectionaria and CORPUS SCRIPTORUM DE RE MUSICA (CSRM) .
