The music management program moodLogic gave the user the option of filtering music by genre , speed, year of publication, similarity and six preset moods, also in combination, for credits acquired .

Detection and functions

An acoustic fingerprint is created for each piece of music in MP3 format and transferred to a local database file . This data is compared via the Internet with a central server on which, if already available, the ratings of other users for the same piece of music are available. After this detection phase, the program can also be used without an internet connection to filter the music according to the categories mentioned. File names and ID3 signatures can be corrected after successful recognition, and classification in artist-specific folders on the hard drive is automatically possible as required.

Credit system

For users registered in the first phase, it is possible to acquire 100 free credits by evaluating 5 pieces of music according to a multiple-choice procedure for similarity, speed and sound feeling. With 50 reviews there are 250 credits. One credit is due for each piece of music sorted in, and there is no limit to the number of times this piece of music can be analyzed. The program could be operated without a network connection if the database was created once via a server connection. Installation without a server is not possible.

privacy

A so-called “fingerprint” is created from the local music data and sent to the company's server for recognition in order to obtain the associated description data from the company's database.

Topicality

Since 2004 there has been no sign of life from the MoodLogic developers. The song information database has not been updated in over two years. The only change that has taken place on the website in the last few years is that the forum in which users advised against purchasing the software has been discontinued. In May 2006, All Music Guide bought MoodLogic .

The service was terminated in early March 2008 by the new owner Macrovision .
