Moravanka is a Czech brass band. It was founded in 1971 by Jan Slabák (born March 24, 1941 in Kelčany , Moravia) and has been under his leadership ever since.

history

Jan Slabák's decision to become a musician began in the Brno Conservatory, which he successfully completed. His further path led him to the Brno State Symphony Orchestra. There his musical career began. He expanded his activities, made guest appearances with several orchestras, played in a small brass band, in the large dance and jazz orchestras Mirko Forets and Gustav Broms, as well as in the Pressburg Symphony Radio Orchestra. In Brno he was soon known as an excellent soloist. While he was performing many concerts abroad as a member of the symphonic orchestra, conductor Herbert von Karajan noticed him and invited him to go bankrupt with the Berlin Philharmonic . However, it was not possible to agree on the date of the bankruptcy because the Brno State Symphony Orchestra went on a tour abroad. In 1972 he auditioned for Bayerischer Rundfunk in order to found his own studio orchestra. From the line-up and the musical execution, the Slabák had the idea that it should be a Moravian-Slovakian brass band. After the first recordings of the Moravanka on the radio, the response was great. The breakthrough came in March 1973 with his first television appearance with his complete musical program. This television broadcast lasted forty minutes and demand for the wind band, the new style of Czech wind music, increased. The broadcasts and concerts then gave the members of the Moravanka the decision to play at the Brno State Symphony Orchestra, Brno Opera Orchestra, or Moravanka. Most of the musicians stayed true to their decision to stay with Moravanka and Jan Slabák. With this decision, the wind orchestra stabilized. As a manager, Jan Hlaváček is responsible for Germany and abroad.

In 1975 the Golden Panton Shield was awarded . Six more "gold plates" followed. In total, the band had sold four million records, tapes and CDs. In 1995 she received a platinum record and in 1996 a diamond record. Many recordings were also released abroad.
