When Eales disease is a Peri vasculitis of retinal -vials, which often occurs in both eyes. The etiology is unclear. Young men between the ages of 20 and 30 from the Mediterranean region are particularly affected.

The funduscopy reveals, corkscrew-like, coiled shunt vessels in the retinal periphery. Through these shunt systems it comes to insufficient blood flow to the retinal capillaries, making it to the retina ischemia followed by neovascularization occurs. Recurrent vitreous bleeding occurs from these newly formed vessels.

In the initial stages, therapy consists of photocoagulation and vitrectomy after vitreous bleeding has occurred.
