The Moselland eG is a German wine cooperative based in Bernkastel-Kues in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Bernkastel-Wittlich . It is the largest German wine cooperative.
history
In 1968 the regional winegrowers 'cooperative of the Cochem district in Ernst , the Mittelmosel winegrowers' cooperative in Wehlen and the main winery in Koblenz merged to form Moselland eG. More cooperatives from the Moselle wine-growing region were gradually added. From 2000, Moselland eG expanded into other wine-growing regions in Rhineland-Palatinate. The members of the Nahe Winzer eG ( Bretzenheim ) were accepted, later the Moselland eG merged with the Rietburg Weingenossenschaft eG ( Rhodt unter Rietburg ). In addition, partnerships and holdings were concluded with the Niersteiner Weingenossenschaft eG and Weinland Rheingau eG.
Today, Moselland eG is the largest German wine cooperative. It is responsible for around 10% of the total turnover of the German wine cooperatives.
Growing areas
Today Moselland eG is active in four of the six Rhineland-Palatinate wine-growing regions : Mosel, Nahe , Rheinhessen and Pfalz .
production
The product range includes wines of different grape varieties. In the 2018/2019 financial year, 21.5 million liters of wine were produced. 80.9% of these were quality wines , 11.8% predicate wines and 7.3% table and country wines .
Members
As of June 30, 2019, the cooperative had 1,783 members.
structure
Moselle wines are marketed under the Moselland brand. The subsidiaries or brands Rietburg Weingenossenschaft , Niersteiner Weingenossenschaft and Weinvertrieb Nahetal exist for the wines of the other subsidiaries .
