Mosteller formula

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mosteller formula is a mathematical formula to estimate the body surface A from the height h and the body weight m in humans:

The Mosteller formula was drawn up in 1987 by the American physician Robert D. Mosteller and represents a simplified modification of the Gehan-George formula . It can be used universally and is also suitable for calculating the body area of children. After the classic DuBois formula, the Mosteller formula is most often used to calculate the body surface area and, thanks to its simplicity, is becoming increasingly important. The use of Mosteller's formula is also recommended in several guidelines because of its accuracy.
