Motionflow

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Motionflow is a technology developed by Sony to increase the sharpness of motion in moving images, similar to Digital Natural Motion ( Philips ). Artificial intermediate images are calculated between the individual images. A film sequence with 24 frames per second can be calculated at up to 120 frames per second. The pictures provide no means an easy transition or even just repetition. Instead, by means of complex motion compensation algorithms , the motion vectors of individual objects in motion picture interpolated . The result is a softer / more fluid display of movements and tracking shots. In particular, material that was recorded at low frame rates (e.g. movies) benefits from this.
