Motorhispania (or MH Motorcycles ) was a Spanish manufacturer of motorcycles and is now a brand under which Zongshen motorcycles are sold.

history

The company was founded in Barcelona in 1948 by former Fiat manager Oscar Rava after he fled Italy because of his Jewish descent. Rava had been running a garage for Lancia and other car brands and bicycles since 1942. When Motorhispania was founded, Moto Guzzi models were imported and produced under license, such as the successful Guzzi 65 , Guzzi Lario 110 , Guzzi 49 , Dingo 49 (1973) or Dingo 75 . Soon after it was founded, the company moved to Seville, where it soon became part of Industrias Subsidiarias de Aviación , a supplier that was founded in 1938 and mainly active in the aviation industry and which had previously taken over the production of motorcycles. In 1988 Eusebio Gallego bought the factory and expanded it further. More than 100 employees produced around 16,000 motorcycles annually. 85% of the production was exported.

As part of the economic crisis after 2007, Motorhispania also had to close in 2014. A year later, the brand and material stocks were taken over by the Seville company Jovicelect SL, which manufactures spare parts and accessories for motorcycles. Motorcycles from the Chinese manufacturer Zongshen are sold .
