The Hamburg-Othmarschen station is a listed station of the Hamburg S-Bahn in price class 4 on the Altona-Blankeneser railway .

Location and structure

The station is located on the northern edge of Othmarschen and on the southern edge of Groß Flottbek . It is built on an embankment and has a single-track parking facility through which trains can sweep, which happens on some trips on the S11 line. The postal address is Statthalterplatz 4.

The station has two exits, firstly to the lively shopping street Waitzstraße and secondly to Reventlowstraße or to Statthalterplatz , where there is a bus turn for bus traffic. Metrobus routes 1 and 15, city bus routes 186, 284 and 286 as well as night bus route 601 operate there.

Hamburg-Othmarschen train station has a lift at the entrance to Statthalterplatz and covered bicycle parking spaces in Jeppweg. There is also a DB ServiceStore on the platform, which is open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

history

The station was put into operation on August 1, 1882, after the Klein Flottbek and Bahrenfeld stations located on the Altona-Blankeneser railway that opened in 1867 . The original station was a little further to the west, roughly at the level of today's parking facility. In 1897, when the line was raised, the station was rebuilt. The remaining buildings of the station on the platform and the platform roof, which were built until 1897, were listed as a historical monument in 2005. The actual reception building on Statthalterplatz, also opened in May 1897, was demolished in the 1980s, roughly at the same time as the renovation of the bridge over Reventlowstrasse and a modern new construction of the access system there. The Othmarschen station was called Groß-Flottbeck-Othmarschen from 1902 , before it was renamed Othmarschen again on April 1, 1938 . On the platform there used to be a small station bar in the building of today's “service store” - as in Hochkamp , Klein Flottbek and Bahrenfeld .

The station was completely renovated in the 2000s. The historic platform roof was placed on new foundations and the platform renewed. An elevator has been added since June 2009, for which a short section of tunnel had to be built in the embankment. A total of at least 2.2 million euros was invested in the renovation work, which was delayed for various reasons. The elevator was put into operation in October 2010. Remaining work followed by January 2011.
