Railway stations in the Hamburg area |
The Hasselbrook station is a station of the Hamburg S-Bahn and a breakpoint at the Lübeck-Hamburg railway in the quarter Eilbek . It is named after the former forest area and now residential area Hasselbrook .
History and present
The station was opened to traffic on August 12, 1907. It served as a transfer station for the Hamburg-Altona city and suburban railway to the Lübeck railway . From 2024, the new S-Bahn line 4 is to come out of the line to Ohlsdorf behind the station and go to Rahlstedt, from 2027 to Bad Oldesloe. This means that the RB81 currently in service here is no longer necessary.
building
The first station building was built from 1905 to 1907 under the direction of the building official Eugen Göbel as a castle-like brick building in the Wilhelminian style of the Hanover architecture school . It is one of the last Hamburg train station buildings in the style mentioned and is a listed building . It was restored in the mid-1990s and is now used as an excursion restaurant.
Immediately next to the train station is a preserved round bunker of the Zombeck type from the Second World War. It was built in 1941 as part of the bunker building program at the time to offer passengers and passers-by protection in the event of air raids. Inside, it is equipped with a stepless ramp placed in a spiral around the cylinder core, which made it possible to accommodate several hundred people in a very short time.

Track systems
The Hamburg – Lübeck railway line runs on two tracks in the station area without branches and encloses a simple central platform .
The S-Bahn line is also double-tracked with a central platform, runs parallel to the Hamburg-Lübeck line within the station area and then turns north to the next station, Wandsbeker Chaussee . In this curve system there is a double-track sweeping system between the main tracks to keep repeater trains ready .
Accesses
Both platforms have a roofed staircase at the eastern end that leads up to Hammer Steindamm , which crosses the two railway lines here.
The S-Bahn platform also has an elevator system that leads through the platform roof to a footbridge over the northern S-Bahn track and from there with a footpath to Hammer Steindamm. Furthermore, there is a stairway companionway to a tunnel roughly in the middle of the platform, which leads under the northern S-Bahn track again to a short staircase and a footpath to Hasselbrookstraße , which runs from here to the west parallel to the route . There is also a Park + Ride car park and a StadtRAD station, as well as a bus stop for the 116 bus (Farmsen - Billstedt). The barrier-free expansion of the S-Bahn platform was completed on March 11, 2016
The transition from one platform to the other can take place via the staircase at the eastern end of both platforms; alternatively, a detour via the elevator / pedestrian bridge system on the S-Bahn platform can be taken.
