The Blutjungs are a pop band from Aschaffenburg . The band calls their music style "splatterpop", but individual songs can also be classified as Schlager , Punk , Country , New Wave , Gothic or Metal . The band was formed in 1996 as a side project to Carlos Mogutseu , for which Martin Grossmann already wrote music and lyrics. Hugo left the band in autumn 2000, allegedly because of a detention in El Salvador, and was replaced by Jochen U., who later had to make way for the current guitarist Tito.

According to their self-portrayal, all members are still 18 years old.

Live performances

The Blutjungs perform between 50 and around 100 live shows a year and used to appear mainly in southern Germany (Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Munich, Ulm), and occasionally in northern Germany and Austria. Since the release of the album Godzilla on Speed in 2009, there have been increasing appearances throughout Germany. At some venues, such as the AKK in Karlsruhe and the Jukuz in Aschaffenburg , at least one concert takes place every year.

The band members like to use different style elements on stage: Singer Großmann deliberately plays with a non-existent homosexuality by wearing high-heeled leather boots, latex pants, tight-fitting T-shirts and make-up. Guitarist Tito prefers a black suit with a collar (similar to a priest), while the bassist and drummer are more oriented towards punk and metal. At larger events, the band is occasionally supported by additional people, such as a stripper.

In order to create the "necessary basic aggression", Großmann opens the concerts by creatively insulting the audience, the city and the surrounding region. So far, however, only Würzburg has left a "lasting impression" and has been immortalized in lyrics ( keyboard player ). The crowd is openly invited to backlash, shouts that are often heard include "fagot" and "asshole". The singer interacts very strongly with the audience during the performance, for example by intrusive flirting with female fans.

Texts

All songs are from singer Martin Großmann. Recurring topics are murder and manslaughter (e.g. playground murderers ), hatred and violence against social "minorities" (skateboarders in Friss dein Brett , keyboard players and residents of Würzburg in keyboard players ) as well as pets ( throwaway cat songs and cat hunting ), drug abuse , sexual perversions of all kinds ( Fred the butcher ) and mental disorders (delusions in The Monster from the Green Lagoon , cannibalism in interior designers ).

However, the texts are designed as satire or black humor and are performed in apparently inappropriate musical styles. According to his own statement, Großmann cannot see any blood and in 2001 published the short prose and poetry collection Doppelmond: Short prose of agony and lust for death, which thematically matched the song texts .

On the album "Godzilla auf Speed", which was released in 2009, there are more or less open allusions to other German bands, e. B. Die Toten Hosen ( GTHFM ), Oomph! ( King of the Night ) and The Doctors ( Boy, Boy ).
