Football year 1985
The football year 1985 was overshadowed by two stadium disasters. On May 11, the Valley Parade fire disaster in Bradford, England, left 56 dead. Just over two weeks later, on May 29, the Heysel disaster occurred before the European Cup final in Brussels . 39 people died in rioting Liverpool fans, English clubs were excluded from all international competitions for five years ( Liverpool FC for seven).
