The Elbe Shopping Center (EEZ) is a shopping center in the Hamburg district of Osdorf . It was opened on May 12, 1966 and offers space for 180 shops on 43,000 m² of retail space. The owners are the Otto Group , ECE project management and private investors. The building complex also includes 1,700 m² for offices and medical practices, plus 2,200 parking spaces in two parking garages. 1,300 people are employed in the center.
history
Construction work on the shopping center began in 1964. The client was Dr. Görtmüller KG. The completion and opening were in 1966. The reason for the construction of the EEZ in Osdorf was on the one hand the constantly growing surrounding communities ( Wedel , Schenefeld ) and on the other hand the steady population increase in Osdorf and the surrounding Hamburg districts. At that time, many residents made their purchases in Schleswig-Holstein. With the construction of the Elbe shopping center, the citizens of the surrounding districts and the surrounding area should be won back as customers and spend their money in Hamburg again. The Elbe shopping center was demolished in 1992/93 and reopened as an indoor shopping center. It had 33,000 m² of retail space spread over two levels. In the EEZ there are currently 120 specialty shops as well as department stores, a market hall and service and catering establishments. Despite this already considerable supply, structural expansion measures took place in 2010. As a result, the sales area grew to approx. 43,000 m².
