Baron Mottistone , of Mottistone in the County of Southampton , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The barons' family home is The Old Parsonage , in Mottistone on the Isle of Wight .

JEB Seely, 1909

The title was created on June 21, 1933 for the military and liberal politician JEB Seely . He was Secretary of State for War from 1912 to 1914 . During the First World War he served as an officer, most recently as a major general . He was the fourth son of Sir Charles Seely, 1st Baronet - therefore the respective baron is also subordinate in the line of succession to his Baronetcy , of Sherwood Lodge and Brooke House, created in 1896 .
