Peter van Hal is a former Dutch ski jumper and now a sports commentator for Eurosport .

Career

At the first Dutch championships in 1992, which were held in St. Moritz , Switzerland , he won the silver medal behind Maarten Homan . As a result, van Hal began jumping in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . However, he did not score any points until the end of his career. At the Dutch Championships in 1993 he won his first national title. In the same year he also won the flatland championships in Meinerzhagen . Also in 1993 he was the first Dutchman to jump from a flying hill.

In 1994 he won his second national title at the Dutch Championships in Oberwiesenthal . He repeated this success in 1995 for the third time in a row.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay , van Hal jumped from the large hill to 63.5 meters, making him 56th and last after the first round. He also retired from the normal hill with 55.5 meters after round one as 56th and could only beat the Bulgarian Georgi Scharkow . In the same year he also started at the Winter Universiade , but returned without success to Bad Mitterndorf , where he lived during his active career. A little later he resigned from active sport for lack of success.

In 1999 he took up a post as a sports commentator at Eurosport . In 2011 he was one of the jurors on the program "Vgende Hollanders" on SBS 6 .
