At 319 m, Mount Bates is the highest point of the Norfolk Island, east of Australia in the Pacific , including its two uninhabited side islands, Nepean Island and Phillip Island .
The elevation lies in the Norfolk Island National Park and, like the entire island, consists of volcanic rock . On the mountain covered with Norfolk firs ( English Norfolk Island Pines ) leads a footpath that consists of wooden steps up to the top of the hill.
