Mount Field West

The Mount Field West is a mountain in the southern Australian state of Tasmania . It is located on the western edge of Mount Field National Park , the highest point of which it is. In the series of the highest mountains in Tasmania, it is in 8th place.

The mountain, which is often covered with snow - even in summer - is a well-known attraction in the national park and popular with hikers and mountaineers. It dominates the valley of the upper Florentine River and can be climbed from Lake Dobson in 7.5 hours (including the way back).
