The Florentine River is a river in the southwest of the Australian state of Tasmania .

geography

River course

The river has its source on the southwest slopes of Junction Hill , a mountain in the far northeast of Southwest National Park , not far from the southwest bank of Lake Gordon . From there it flows north-northeast, crosses under the Gordon River Road and then runs east of the Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park . About five kilometers south of Wayatinah it flows into Lake Catagunya and thus into the Derwent River .
