Mount Hodson is a 1005 m (according to other sources 915 m ) high stratovolcano on Visokoi Island in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It is the central massif of the island.
It was discovered in 1819 during the first Russian Antarctic expedition (1819-1821) under the direction of Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen . British Discovery Investigations scientists did the mapping and naming in 1930. It is named after Arnold Wienholt Hodson (1881–1944), Governor of the Falkland Islands from 1927 to 1931.
