The Popomanaseu is the highest mountain in the Solomon Islands . The mountain on Guadalcanal reaches a height of 2335 meters and thus exceeds Mount Makarakomburu to the west by about 20 meters.
For a long time Mount Makarakomburu was considered the highest in the country at 2,447 meters, but this measurement turned out to be incorrect.
