The Makarakomburu is the second highest mountain in the Solomon Islands . It is located on the island of Guadalcanal , about 30 kilometers south of Honiara , the capital of the independent island state of the Solomon Islands , in the southwestern Pacific Ocean .

The Makarakomburu has a height of 2,310 meters. Earlier claims that it was the highest mountain in the Solomon Islands at 2,447 meters proved to be incorrect, as consistently shown by InSAR and SRTM data and topographical mappings . The highest mountain in the Solomon Islands is Popomanaseu , located to the northeast, a little further in the interior of the island, at 2,335 meters.
