Mouvement burkinabé des droits de l'homme et des peuples

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mouvement burkinabé des droits de l'homme et des peuples (MBDHP, in German Burkinabe Movement for Human and People's Rights ) is a non-governmental organization that fights for the expansion and respect of universal human rights in Burkina Faso . It is a member of the Union interafricaine des droits de l'homme .

The MBDHP was founded in 1989 and is today one of the most important and well-known human rights organizations in West Africa . Until 2007, Halidou Ouédraogo , one of the most famous extra-parliamentary politicians in Burkina Faso, was chairman of the MBDHP, at the 4th MBDHP Congress from October 18-20 , 2007, Chrysogone Zougmoré was elected by the delegates as his successor. The new general secretary (Zougmoré previously held the office) was Aly Sanou, previously advisor for women's and children's rights in the association. At the 5th Congress in November 2010, both were confirmed in office.

The MBDHP understands human rights comprehensively and is involved, for example, in the fight against circumcision or in the support of trade union work. In March 2008 the MBDHP was a founding member of the "Coalition Contre la Vie Chère" (CCVC). Zougmoré, in his role as MBDHP chairman, is the vice-president of the CCVC (the president is the chairman of the CGT-B confederation, Tolé Sagnon).
