History and Development

With the constant further development of the piranha due to the ever higher requirements and the discontinuation of the Mowag Shark project as a heavy weapon carrier, the capacity limit in terms of payload was reached over time. With the Piranha 10 × 10, built in 1994, attempts were made to take this aspect into account by installing a fifth axle of the same type. Basically, the Piranha 10 × 10 was designed as a heavy weapon carrier, but only a small series was built, e.g. for Sweden as the KAPRIS command tank and the LIRKA transmission tank. The Piranha IIIC 10 × 10 represented an important step in the development of the Piranha IIIC 8 × 8 .

The prototype of the Piranha IIIC 10 × 10, which took part in various tests, including in Sweden, is now in the Swiss Military Museum Full .
