The Mowag Piranha IB 6 × 6 is a armored car from the Swiss company Mowag .
History and Development
As the first Piranha at all of the 1972-built Piranha IB 6 × 6 with various technical innovations such as at the time modern designed drive with independent suspension, compact drive assembly front right of the vehicle, was amphibious drive (two propellers ) and others provided more and so was the construction template of all piranhas built to date. The prototype was shown several times with different engines and different equipment to potential customers, such as the Canadian Army , where the breakthrough of the piranha product was achieved with this vehicle and the first orders for the piranha were received.
In the Swiss Army , the Piranha 6 × 6 with guided missiles BGM-71 TOW was used as Panzerjäger 90 , and numerous vehicles were converted into command tanks .
The prototype stands today together with a Piranha medical tank in the Swiss Military Museum Full .
