Mozart monument in Frankfurt

The Mozart monument on Mozartplatz in Frankfurt am Main commemorates the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart .

In 1913 Georg Bäumler created a Mozart monument in Frankfurt based on a design by K. Krüger. However, it was completely destroyed in the air raids on Frankfurt am Main during World War II.

A new memorial was created after the war. On May 11, 1963, the new Mozart memorial, created by Prof. Gerhard Marcks , was inaugurated on Mozartplatz in front of Haus Bockenheimer Anlage 15 . It consists of a column more than 4.90 meters high, on which sits a bust covered with a winged hat. The hat has a wingspan of 1.45 m. Swedish granite was used. The memorial bears the inscription "To the genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart".
