mp3DirectCut is an audio editor for Windows that allows you to edit files in MP3 and AAC format directly without having to re-encode them. mp3DirectCut does not change the frames themselves, so the accuracy of the processing is limited to the length of an MP3 frame of 1/38 s. On the other hand, the quality does not deteriorate due to the otherwise necessary re-encoding of the audio file. In the event of level changes such as fading in or out , only the global gain field is changed in the frames ; the accuracy is limited to steps of 1.5 decibels .
mp3DirectCut is offered as freeware for download. The program can also be used under Linux via WINE .
The program also includes a tag editor , but only for ID3v1 and not for ID3v2 tags.
