Mr. Potato Head ( Engl. Mr. Potato Head ) is a particularly in the United States known toy from Hasbro . Outside the United States, it was best known for Toy Story .
history
In 1952, Hasbro licensed Mr. Potato Head from George Lerner. The toy became the company's greatest success to date and achieved cult status . The commercial for Mr. Potato Head was the first ever produced and broadcast for a toy. Originally the toy consisted of different sets for Mr. Potato, his family members and Mr. Orange. The toy was intended for use with real fruits and vegetables. The accessories consisted of face parts such as eyes, nose, ears, arms and legs that could be attached to vegetables. Originally a styrofoam head was included in the packaging. This was replaced in 1964 by a plastic potato head. Hasbro brought out a number of Mr. Potato Heads on specific topics, such as Star Wars or Spider-Man . Despite numerous changes to the make and design of the toy, it remains one of Hasbro's most successful products to this day.
Mr. Potato Head was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2000 .

- In Toy Story , Mr. Potato Head stars as one of the toys. In the following films Toy Story 2 , Toy Story 3 , and Toy Story 4 Mrs. Potato Head also appears.
- Melanie Martinez released the song Mrs. Potato Head on her album Cry Baby in 2015 , in which she denounced the excesses of cosmetic surgery.
- Between 1998 and 1999, the children's show The Mr. Potato Head Show was broadcast on 20th Century Fox . A season with 13 episodes, each 30 minutes running, was produced.
