Muhamed Demiri (born November 20, 1985 ) is a Macedonian - Swiss football player who has been under contract with BSC Old Boys Basel since summer 2015 .

Career

The two-footed central midfielder comes from the FC Concordia Basel squad , with whom he signed his first professional contract in 2004 after a detour via the FC Basel youth team . In the 2004/05 season he received 12 missions in the Challenge League , in which he remained without a goal. A year later he ran for the Congeli in 29 games and scored two goals. With the Basel team he consistently reached the middle of the table in the second highest Swiss football league. After Concordia Basel voluntarily withdrew from professional football in the summer of 2009, Demiri left the club and was for a short time without a club.

In autumn 2009 he moved to FC Thun and its new coach Murat Yakin , who originally started his coaching career with the Congeli. The extremely flexible Demiri, who prefers defensive midfield and who has already played as a full and central defender and was also used in the center and left in the build-up, was used for the first time in the Bernese Oberland on September 23, 2009. After being out of action for a while in the preliminary round of the 2008/09 season due to problems with the adductors , Demiri pulled the inner ligament on his left knee in the game against FC Winterthur on October 5, 2009 and also pulled one severe bone contusion too. After only a month he returned to FC Thun and established himself as a regular player.

Thanks in part to Demiri's achievements, the Bernese Oberland club, which had a number of young Basel players on its team, won the Challenge League this season and was promoted to the Axpo Super League .

On May 26, 2010, the contract with Muhamed Demiri was extended for three years. He will therefore compete in the highest league of a country for the first time. For the 2013/2014 season, Demiri moved to FC St. Gallen , with whom he also competed in the Europa League.
