Muhammad Abu Tir

Muhammad Abu Tir ( Arabic محمد حسن أبو طير, DMG Muḥammad Ḥasan Abū Ṭair ; often transcribed as Mohammed Abu-Teir ; * 1951 in East Jerusalem ) is a Palestinian politician ( Hamas ).

Life

Abu Tir was born in Umm Tuba, an Arab neighborhood in East Jerusalem . Since January 2006 he has been a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council for the constituency of East Jerusalem . On June 29, 2006, he and 63 other Hamas members were arrested by Israel as part of " Operation Summer Rain " in order to be exchanged for the kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit , but later released.

In June 2010, the Israeli authorities withdrew Muhammad Abu Tir "the ID that gives him the right to live in Jerusalem and justified this with his Islamist attitude". He was arrested on June 30, 2010 for refusing to leave Jerusalem.
