Muhammad Urfi
Muhammad Urfi (* around 1555 in Shiraz , † 1591 in Lahore ) was one of the most important poets during the reign of the Mughal Akbar I.
Muhammad Urfi came from the Persian city of Shiraz. As a poet he lived at the court of the Mughal ruler Akbar, where he competed with the poet Fayzi , the brother of the court chronicler Abu Fazl . Urfi wrote in cassid form and also in Persian .
In 1591 he died in Lahore, Akbar's residence at the time. His body was transferred to Najaf .
