Muhrejubbel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Muhrejubbel (also Muurejubbel , more rarely Muhreverbel ; roughly means carrot mess ) is a Rhineland specialty made from carrots and potatoes . There are different variants with smoked bacon , beans and soup greens .

For preparation, the carrots and potatoes, preferably floury ones, are peeled and cut into cubes and boiled in water or broth. The cooked potatoes and carrots are then mashed with a potato masher. After mashing, white beans can be mixed in and cooked briefly as well as mixed with a roasted onion. Muhrejubbel goes well with sausages , bratwurst , panhas , thick ribs and bacon and similar dishes.
