In the field of photovoltaics , Stäubli is the market leader with the Multi-Contact MC4 connector including cabling systems.

history

The company was founded in 1962 by Rudolf Neidecker. As an electrical engineer, Neidecker had already devoted himself to the development and manufacture of electrical plug-in contacts as well as pressure, sliding and special contacts. From the end of the 1970s, Multi-Contact began to expand abroad with the establishment of subsidiaries, in addition to the neighboring countries France, Germany, Italy and Austria also in Great Britain, the Benelux countries, the USA and Asia.

In 2002 Multi-Contact was taken over by the Stäubli Group , where it has been run as a subsidiary since then. Stäubli is an international technology company with three areas (textiles, connectors, robotics). In order to make optimal use of the resulting synergies, Multi-Contact took over the Stäubli brand name on January 1, 2017. Numerous products continue to bear the Multi-Contact (MC) brand name.
