In contrast to the usual since the Second World War Einturm armor is the multi-tower tank around a tank that with several towers equipped. Different weapons are usually installed in the towers, such as B. Machine guns and artillery pieces of various calibers. The basic idea of the constructions was often to use the tank like a “movable fortress” to stop the enemy at this “insurmountable obstacle”.

However, this task can hardly be fulfilled by tanks: The turrets increase the weight, which is either offset by weaker armor or makes the tank less maneuverable. In addition, the different armament can rarely be used for a concentrated bombardment of a target. After all, multi-turn armored vehicles were very large and made a good target, which together with the above-mentioned characteristics often resulted in only brief use on the battlefield.
