Mulzer pine in Kempten

The Mulzer pine is a free-standing tree and a natural monument on the Mariaberg, a mountain range west of the Mariaberg district of Kempten with the same name . The tree stands at a height of 883 meters, about 790 meters northeast of the Höhenegg , which at 915 meters is the highest point in the entire urban area of Kempten.

History and location

The Mulzer pine bears its name after the fighter pilot Max Ritter von Mulzer . The Scots pine was planted after the First World War to commemorate the fate of the fighter pilot. The tree stands on the Mariaberg west of Kempten.

In 1986 donated the home club Kempten a blackboard and brought them to the pine. It commemorates the fighter pilot with the following inscription:

So he stays now for all time:
The women carry him in their hearts,
The men sing about him and once say,
And over sorrow and dreams of dull days,
comfort is enthroned: Immortality.
