Maria Berg is the name of a mountain and found there the village on the district St. Lorenz of the city Kempten (Allgäu) . The place is in the eastern area of ​​the mountain range of the same name . In the Tyrolean struggle for freedom in 1809, the Vorarlberg troops allied with the Tyroleans crossed the Mariaberg to Kempten several times.

The smallest people's association in the Allgäu was founded in Mariaberg in 1848. Like most of the Allgäu people's associations, he joined the Kempten people's association in April 1849.
