Maria Berg is the name of a mountain and found there the village on the district St. Lorenz of the city Kempten (Allgäu) . The place is in the eastern area of the mountain range of the same name . The highest point of the ridge is called Höhenegg , which is 915 m above sea level. NN is also the highest point in the city of Kempten.
The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built in 1783 by order of the Prince Abbot Honorius Roth von Schreckenstein from Kempten . Until 1768 there was a chapel owned by Balthasar Weegmann from Guggers on the Kniebos . The chapel is used regularly for church services by the Catholic parish of St. Lorenz .
In the Tyrolean struggle for freedom in 1809, the Vorarlberg troops allied with the Tyroleans crossed the Mariaberg to Kempten several times.
The smallest people's association in the Allgäu was founded in Mariaberg in 1848. Like most of the Allgäu people's associations, he joined the Kempten people's association in April 1849.
