Ajen is a district of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) and belongs to the district of Sankt Lorenz .

The desert flows around the Iller in a semi-arch. The name of the place mentioned in 1780 and 1793, which at that time consisted of two feudal estates, can be traced back to floodplains , from which the modified form Ajen arose .

In 1818 Ajen came to the newly created rural community of Sankt Lorenz. This was incorporated into the city of Kempten in 1972 together with the districts.
