Hinterholz is a wasteland in the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) . Until 1972 it belonged to the Sankt Mang community , which came back to Kempten that year.
history
Hinterholz was mentioned in 1526 as "hinderm wood". In 1601 the imperial city of Kempten held the tax law and the lower jurisdiction in Hinterholz.
In 1819, a year after Hinterholz had been connected with other localities to form the rural community of Sankt Mang , there were 3 properties with 17 residents who belonged to the main Lenzfried team . In 1900 there were 2 courtyards with 13 residents in Hinterholz. In 1954, 19 residents lived in the desert.
