history

In 1378, a chapel "to the 11,000 Mägten ze Ried" was first mentioned in a Kemptic document. In the same year the builder Cuntz Haugg from Kempten was mentioned. In 1411 a Haugg bequeathed five pounds of Heller for the chapel. The imperial city of Kempten appointed a curator of saints in 1432 after disputes with the Kempten monastery over the right of occupation.

During the Peasants' War in 1525, the hamlet of Ursulasried suffered severe fire damage. In 1530, as a result of the Reformation, the imperial city of Kempten lost the right of patronage over the St. Ursula Chapel to the diocese of Augsburg . In 1640 the dilapidated chapel was repaired by the prince monastery. 1802 it was deserted with 17 participants. In 1819 Ursulasried consisted of 13 houses with 63 inhabitants, Ursulasried belonged to the Leubas main team .

In 1900, 87 people lived in 17 properties in the church village. In 1913, Roman objects were found near Ursulasried, which was confirmed in the 1990s by excavations carried out by the Kempten city archeology. At that time the remains of a Roman settlement were uncovered.

In 1972 Ursulasried was reclassified to Kempten as part of the rural community of Sankt Mang . The Kempten waste-to-energy plant was opened in Ursulasried in 1975 and modernized in the 1990s.

By 2008, 130 hectares of commercial space had been created in Ursulasried. Among other things, there is the production of Liebherr-Verzahntechnik , the headquarters of Feneberg Lebensmittel , the waste-to-energy plant in Kempten , the ADAC driving safety system , a branch of BayWa , a photovoltaic system of the Allgäu overland plant on the site of the former landfill and other medium-sized companies.
