Bühl (also Auf dem Bühl ) is a district of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) . A historical history of the origin of the place name has not been passed down. The modern district, which emerged only after the Second World War , is characterized by a mixed development consisting of commercial and residential areas.

Bühl is located in the northeast of the city on both sides of the federal highway 12 , which in Kempten bears the name Stephanstraße. The districts of Reinharts and Wettmannsberg are in the immediate vicinity .

In 1970 a place Bühl with eleven inhabitants was recorded, but this is a Bühl in the west of the city in the district of Sankt Lorenz , which was added to the place Zollhaus. It was not until 1987 that the Bühl district appeared with its almost 1,800 inhabitants.

The teaching, testing and specialist center for dairy industry in Kempten is located in Bühl .

In 1999, the foundation stone for the new Kempten correctional facility was laid in Bühl . The prison was completed in 2003.
