Felben is a wasteland and part of the Bavarian city of Kempten (Allgäu) . The place name goes back to the Middle High German word felwe , which means pasture .
history
In 1294 "Velwun" was mentioned in connection with the acquisition of the property by a Kempten citizen, before that the farm belonged to the Kempten monastery . In 1451 an estate called Felbun was owned by the Ört brothers. In 1515 the estate burned down during the Peasants' War . A year later, Görig Strasser signed the Memmingen contract with Felbo . In 1593 people from Felben were obliged to help the Imperial Turks .
In 1819, a year after Felben had been connected with other localities to form the rural community of Sankt Mang , there were three properties with twelve residents who belonged to the Leuba's main team . In 1900 the number rose by six. At the 1954 census there were 15 people living in the desert. In 1972 the wasteland came back to Kempten with the incorporation of Sankt Mang.
