Location of Sterklings in Kempten (Allgäu) |
Sterklings is a wasteland in the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) . It used to be on the edge of the 800-day-long Wagegger pond belonging to the prince monastery of Kempten , which was dammed from a small natural pond between 1693 and 1697 and 1715 to 1716 and drained after secularization .
history
The wasteland was called “Starchelingen”, “Starklins”, “Störkhlins” or “Sterklings” in the past. The earliest known mention of Sterkling was in 1140, when a Marquard von Günzburg donated an estate to "Starchelingen" to the Augsburg monastery of St. Afra and Ulrich .
In 1738 a single farm was occupied in Sterklings. In 1819, when the community of Sankt Mang was formed from Sterklings and other places , ten residents lived in the single courtyard. The Hauptmannschaft Lenzfried was superior to Sterklings. In 1900 there were nine residents in Sterklings. In 1954 there were six.
